| Little Bitterroot Ranch is
a family owned ranch managed by Frank & Marilynn Carr. The ranch
originated in 1912 by Frank's grandfather. Son Shannon has been working
towards involvement in the business and becoming a full time rancher. He
and wife Jeannette have two sons, Blaine and Tyler. The ranch is located ten miles east of Hot Springs in the Little Bitterroot Valley. Annual rainfall averages nine inches so it is quite arid. Cattle are ranged on dry land pasture until mid to late summer when they are taken to irrigated fields. We never creep feed our calves. We have strived for 36 years to improve our Simmental by using A.I. and the the last 12 years by embryo transplant. Breeders in our area prefer solid red or black and polled genetics so it demands selecting for that. We select for those traits along with a total productive package of moderate framed, easy fleshing, maternally functional, non-diluted, non-spotting, easy calving cattle while enhancing yield grade and added carcass value. |
