Red Angus
     History and Philosophy

We have been breeding Red Angus since 1971. Our foundation females came from Earl Werling, an early Iowa Breeder, Mid-America Cattle Company and George Chiga. We also purchased a large group of Ankonian Dynamo daughters when Ankony Angus dispersed their southern Iowa ranch.

From the beginning to the present, most of our breeding has been by A.I., utilizing the best Red Angus genetics available, with an occasional infusion of outcross blood from an outstanding Black Angus sire. One of these outcross sires which had a tremendous impact in our herd was P.S. Power Play. Extended pedigrees of our cattle would show him appearing several times in most individuals.

We have always tried to breed "Cattle for the Real World", and have practiced Total Herd Reporting and 100% Performance Testing for the entire 39 years of our existence. Our breeding program has focused on reasonable birth weights, excellent mothering ability, fast growth, and superior carcasses.  A highlight of our career was being named "Iowa Seedstock Producer of 1992" over all breeds.
