She was a teenager
studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He was fresh out
of the Army after serving in Germany in WWII. On an early date, they went to the
Cuyahoga County Fair. They spotted some Angus calves in a pen. They looked at
the calves, they looked at each other and decided, then and there, to raise
Angus cattle together some day. And so began the story which unfolds in this
absolutely charming book by Caryl Velisek.
An agricultural news reporter for more than a quarter century, she has applied
her
considerable journalistic skills to telling stories that have lingered in her
memory
through a lifetime. And, by the way, she is singing again — folk songs, not
opera.
